The Bisben Shepherd is related to the other Himalayan breeds, but is sometimes mistakenly, regarded as a breed of Tibetan Mastiff, the reason for this is the dogs head, it is far more wolf like and this distinguishes it clearly from the Tibetan Mastiff.
There are numerous theories about the origin of this Bisben race, the most popular is that it is the result of breeding between the wolf and shepherd dogs.
His muscular body is covered with a very thick coat and this fur coat makes this race very weather resistant and adapted to the harsh environment of the Himalayas.
The coat color is black with large white markings on feet and chest, but also Wolf grey and tri-color dogs are found in some places. The average size is 65 cm.
These dogs are powerful and wild, this rare Himalayan Shepard dog is used primarily as a guard dog for flocks and as a herder driver, but this dog also makes a good guard dog and hunting companion.
This is one of the few sheep dogs that is capable of guarding herds on its own and can be very aggressive towards strangers and defends its property selflessly, therefore controlled obedience training is imperative for this breed.
